The Rif Mountains in Morocco seen from the Intercontinental Biosphere Reserve of the Mediterranean, south of Spain. The more than 70 territories that make up the Mediterranean Biosphere Reserve Network host an exceptional heritage related to biodiversity, landscapes and cultural expressions. The aim of a biosphere reserve is to protect such natural area and enhance the relationship between people and their environment, under the supervision of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).
