Nearly a third of the world’s tree species are at risk of extinction largely due to agriculture, logging, and, increasingly, the global climate emergency, according to the report State of the World’s Trees. The Mediterranean region has the second highest concentration of biodiversity in the world, but it is in a critical situation, because as the forests face increasing pressures, so do its animals and plants.
