Agadir is one of the main urban centers of Morocco. The city was destroyed by an earthquake in 1960 and has been completely rebuilt. Today it is the largest seaside resort in Morocco. At the Mediterranean conference in Agadir four years ago, the Mediterranean countries committed themselves to restoring 8 million hectares of forest—the equivalent of 11 million soccer fields—before 2030. This action is essential to combat desertification, soil erosion and to help land recover from devastating fires.
